Normal or Regular Menstrual Cycle
The period of a woman's life between the end of adolescence and the beginning of menopause is called sexual or reproductive maturity.
The characteristic of this stage is having regular cycles and the possibility of conceiving.
A normal menstrual cycle has the following considerations:
The duration of bleeding is between 2 to 7 days.
The volume of bleeding is between 30 to 80 mL.
The cycle lasts between 21 to 35 days.
Between the ages of 20 and 35, 50-60% of women have cycles that last between 25 and 30 days, with only a small percentage of women in their reproductive stage having cycles every 28 days.
If there is any alteration in the duration of bleeding (less than 2 days or more than 7 days), volume of bleeding (less than 30 mL or more than 80 mL), or cycle duration (less than 21 days or more than 35 days), it indicates an irregularity in the menstrual cycle. Therefore, it is important to consult with a professional to rule out one of the main causes, including assessing our hormonal profile for any hormonal imbalance.
A thorough gynecological examination and a gynecological ultrasound can help evaluate the possible causes and their treatments.
