Hormonal contraception without estrogen

Primarily composed of 4 mg Drospirenone, a fourth-generation progestin

Hormonal contraception without estrogen

Its effects include:

1) Antigonadotropic: inhibits follicular growth and ovulation, similar to combined contraceptives.
2) Antimineralocorticoid: does not retain sodium, water, and prevents fluid retention.
3) Antiandrogenic: beneficial impact on acne, hirsutism (excessive hair growth), and seborrhea (oily skin).

Important points to consider: Its efficacy is comparable to combined oral contraceptives, with no secondary thromboembolism effects. It reduces dysmenorrhea in adolescents, minimizes intermenstrual spotting, and maintains bone mineral density.

Indicated for:

  • Adolescents
  • Patients with migraines
  • Smokers
  • Overweight and obese individuals
  • Hypertensive patients
  • Those with a history of venous or arterial thromboembolism
